| The Oyster Roundtable was formed in 1993 by a Maryland legislative mandate to address the sharp decline in Eastern Oyster Crassostrea virginica. The roundtable was made up of a diverse group of individuals with varied interest related to the oyster resource including scientists, watermen, resource managers, and industry representatives. |

| The Roundtable generated the Maryland Oyster Roundtable Action Plan and reformatted the Chesapeake Appreciation Inc. to become the Oyster Recovery Partnership which would be dedicated to carrying out the goals of the Action Plan. |
