The Chesapeake Bay Belongs to All of Us ― Leave Your Legacy
“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”
― Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
Ultimately, it is the individual citizens who will have the largest impact on improving the health of the Bay . . . and oysters are “Habitat Forming!” The Oyster Recovery Partnership offers several ways to stay connected and get involved to help restore the Bay oyster:
ORP continues to build a supportive, active online community by leveraging social networking tools such as Twitter, Facebook, the blogosphere, our e-newsletters and our website. Each year, we engage followers through online opportunities to support oyster restoration. This year, we launched our new “Build a Reef” campaign where your donation will plant more oysters into our Bay with matching funds from a regional sponsor who also cares deeply about our Bay.
ORP provides opportunities to volunteer for citizens, restaurants and corporations.
In addition to hosting our annual Mermaid Kiss Oyster Fest & “It’s My Bay” Awards in the fall and our upcoming “Sprint for Spat 5K” on May 31, 2014, ORP hosts or attends around 80 events every year. Join us!
Whether you are a concerned citizen, an esteemed Shells Angel or a valuable member of our Shell Recycling Alliance, ORP thanks you for helping us recycle the extremely limited natural resource of shell.
Become an Oyster Advocate! Ask us how hosting a fundraising event will help your corporation or restaurant to make a tangible difference in the Bay.
ORP offers various opportunities, including corporate team building events, for Bay-minded organizations and individuals to leave their legacy on the Chesapeake.
