Introducing ORP’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan
ORP is excited to announce the release of its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. The plan reflects a renewed mission—restoring the Chesapeake Bay by revitalizing oysters through collaboration, innovation, and action—and a clear vision for a Bay that supports thriving ecosystems, economies, and communities.
The plan focuses on three priorities:
- Restoring oysters and supporting sustainable fisheries, strengthening water quality, habitat, and the seafood economy
- Elevating the role oysters play in Chesapeake Bay recovery, through greater outreach, advocacy, and partnerships
- Building long-term organizational resilience, ensuring restoration work can continue at scale and with accountability
Across all priorities, partnerships remain essential to advancing effective, long-term restoration efforts.

This strategic planning journey brought together voices from across ORP’s community, including staff, board members, volunteers, partners, watermen, scientists, business leaders, and advocates. Through visioning sessions, interviews, surveys, and feedback conversations, the process focused on asking big questions, listening carefully, and refining priorities to ensure the plan reflects both the Bay’s needs and the people who live, work, and recreate throughout the watershed.
Special thanks to Due East Partners for their expert guidance throughout the process, as well as to the Strategic Planning Committee for its leadership and time volunteered, and to ORP’s staff and Board of Directors for their thoughtful engagement and commitment to the work.
